I've bought several PCs from Dell in the past 6 years, and even in this small town I know a couple of others who have dealt with them and been quite satisfied. AFAIK, their "on site" warranty which you can buy as an extra hasn't been tested up here "1,000 miles away", so I can't say what it *really* means here! (But then, you're only about "500 miles away". :-)

Jay B Greetings Jay B! Yep, that's me - Still Crazy and probably always will be. The XPS 700 that I configured was gonna cost right at $6k even with Sales-discounts and...

You might like to visit the Dell site and select one of the machines that comes close to what you're after, then modify the specs as far as allowed on line to see if you come close to what you want. (You can do this without committing to anything. :) Also, note that Dell offers some pretty interesting specials most weeks. The specs on these can be altered usefully too; but probably not quite as freely as the standard lines at their full prices.

I haven't tried phoning them, but I believe that's pretty common in the States and you then form some sort of "relationship" with the voice at the other end until the deal is done (if not longer -- you I've added that group to the current distribution, for my info as much as yours.

Cheers, Phred.
