Possible Virus on my Dell What to do

VPN Service Provider

Why does Dell even need an onsite technical support department
Another rant pondering why Dell has 15,000 complaints at the BBB. The Dell phone techs read a script, and when nothing works, they talk to their supervisor 3 or 4...

You spend whatever amount of money to install an AV program and you won't do a scan? What is the point??? If that is the way you are going to operate, you might as well uninstall it.........

You ***MUST*** do regular full scans. This is the only way to protect yourself. period. Don't do it once a month. It should be done at least once a week. If you look at the log files for Trend Micro, you will see that updates happen almost on a daily basis. New viruses-worms-etc. are generated continuously.

I'm hopeful that you caught it, but you'd better be careful. I'd suggest you run the on-line scans from Trend, McAfee and Symantec. Do a full scan every day for a week.

Also, schedule your full scans for a time you know you will not be at the console. My scans are every Saturday at 2PM. I know that I will be either working in the yard or out on a day trip with my wife. I leave the PC powered on all day Saturday. Once you establish a routine, it becomes automatic....
