Primary drive 01 not found and a firewire question Dell 8300
The history: Running WINXP SP2 BIOS A04. PC is just over 2 years old.
The 8300 came with a 120GB SATA drive. Later, I added a 250GB IDE drive ('cause I didn't know any better).
NOW, I have replaced the 120 with a 320GB SATA. Took out the 250 and put it in an external case and put in a second 320GB SATA drive. All together I have 3 external USB drives totaling 68 plus 10GB and the 2 internal totaling 640GB.

I also added 1GB of RAM to bring it to 2GB so of course now I have the problem of hibernation not working most of the time.
The problems:
Occasionally when I boot up I get the messages about the primary drive 0 not found and primary drive 1 not found. In the BIOS the SATA drives are seen and DVD-ROM and burner are shown as separate line items. The primary and secondary drive settings were set to AUTO but I changed them to OFF because I'm buttuming they refer to IDE drives which I no longer have. Is this OK or will it create other problems?

Second question. I had installed a firewire card a while back for transferring DV from my Sony camera to my PC. Now the PC no longer recognizes the camera. No ding, no balloon message when I plug it in. Device manager shows the firewire card as properly working. I've tried a different cable, and a different camera but none of it has made a difference. Very frustrating as all this memory and all this HD space is for doing video editing and I can't even transfer video anymore.
This may be totally unrelated to all the upgrades because the last time I did a successful transfer was in February. I used Acronis True Image 9.0 for the cloning, which by the way caused me a lot of trouble initially but eventually it worked.

I guess my question is, do you have any thoughts on what may be causing the PC not to recognize the cameras. A google search hasn't really turned up a viable solution. Only stuff like bent pins in the cable or in the camera which I've eliminated as a cause by using different combos of what I have. Also, the only drivers listed for the camera are for USB and for older OS only.
