Question about keyboard malfunction and extended 3 yearwarranty
High Resolution Displays and Web Pages I bought an Inspiron 8600 notebook and a Labreastude D800 notebook on ebay. I plan to keep one... not really. it depends in large part on the tech that you get when you call. they are supposed to follow a problem resolution troubleshooting script but some that are more experienced will work with you if you tell them the troubleshooting that you have already done... some seem to try to pawn off the explanation of keyboard problems as being software (windows) related, which it could be, but instead of telling you to reload windows (aka, get off the phone, spend hours reloading, and find that the problem probably still exists) they should suggest restarting the system with a dos bootable floppy or the diagnostics cd... if you boot to a dos disk or the diagnostics cd that came with your computer and find the keyboard demonstrates the same problem then you can confidently tell them that this is not a software-windows issue and ask to be escalated to a supervisor if you get someone that tries to tell you otherwise... if you have a mail in warranty only then i would sonner buy the part and replace it myself then be without the system for a week. good luck.
