Question on DVI Cables Which One For Dell 2405FPW LCD 1604

Thanks for all the advice, but unfortunately, none of them answered my question. The documentation for my ATI graphics card says it takes a DVI-I cable (doesn't say anything about # of pins, male-female, dual-link, etc..). But when shopping for DVI cables, you're presented with all these options.

I just went on CompUSA's web site and did a search for "DVI Video Cables", I got all kinds of them, with different options.

Some were 24-pin, some 16-pin, some were male-male, some different, some were DVD-D but my graphics card says it needs a DVD-I. What's the difference? Some cables were advertised as "Dual Link", some were not. I have no idea what Dual Link is, and whether it makes any difference if I get one that does or does not have this feature.

All I'm asking is: What is the right kind of cable to buy, i.e., # of pins, male-female, DualLink or not, etc. Does anyone know this?

And lastly, are some better than others, in quality, etc., since there is such a huge price range (from $19 up to $100 or more).

I was hoping, like most of you seemed to indicate, that DVI was DVI. But when shopping for DVI cables, you're presented with a host of different options.

I just want to buy the right (compatible) cable the first time. I had no idea it was so complicated, and that there were so many different types of cables with so many different options.

Again, if anyone could advise the "right" type of cable, with specifics (pins, male-female, dual-link, etc.) as mentioned above, then I'll know which one to buy. Again, many thanks.
