Question on DVI Cables Which One For Dell 2405FPW LCD 1606

People like you, who think they know all, and have everything figured out, really bug me. Although responding to your message isn't worth my time, I felt I had to respond to it.

I didn't place my order for the monitor, OR the cable, until I posted these questions on this and another newsgroup and read the helpful responses.

When you post a message, you get replies (thanks to the helpful people on this newsgroup...we've been helping each other for years by the way). Then, you make the best decision, based on the available information.

After I read all the replies, I went back to Dell, BEFORE I ordered the monitor. I spoke with a different sales person this time. They told me that as of a week ago, they no longer provide a DVI cable with this monitor. Only a VGA. Also, the standard price dropped to $999 (from $1,099) and sales price was $799 through 3-16. Maybe the DVI cable thing has something to do with that, who knows.

I told Dell that I had spoken with many people on Dell Talk and on this and other newsgroups, who bought the same monitor, and they all told me that it DID come with a DVI cable. The Dell rep said that "IT USED TO, BUT NOT ANY LONGER."

So, I asked her that, IF I go ahead and order the Belkin cable Dell recommends, and IF the monitor DID indeed come with a DVI cable, would I be able to return the Belkin cable at Dell's expense and get a full refund? The Dell rep said YES. I got the rep's name, date-time, and asked her to send me an email confirming this. She did.

And I have a printed transcript of my conversation with the first Dell sales rep I spoke to BEFORE I ordered the monitor, and before I posted any questions here. The first rep also indicated the monitor no longer comes with a DVI cable.

So I have it in writing from Dell, that IF the monitor comes with a DVI cable, I can return the $89 Belkin cable I bought at Dell's expense, and get a full refund.

So, this was the decision I made. I'm sorry you think this was a bad decision, and that I never should have asked my questions.

Like I said, we all help each other, go with the best information we can get, then make a decision. That's what I did. What the heck do you think these newsgroups and DellTalk are for anyway?

Why don't YOU call Dell Sales, and just inquire about this monitor before it goes off the $799 sale (today 3-16) and ask if it comes with a DVI cable. See if you can find ANYONE at Dell to tell you that it DOES come with a DVI cable, then post your response here to let us all know.
