Registry cleanup software

Micro$oft would have to approve its own software, which would never happen. A nice idea, but the fox in the chicken coop never works out.

thanks for the log. sure you are filled with all sorts of bad things. also why are you running...

While you're at it, how about all of the garbage files left behind by most major products including (surprise!) Micro$oft Office and Internet Explorer. DId you ever look in the %temp% folder and see all the files in there? Windows 'Disk Cleanup" barely scrapes the surface of files which can be safely removed.

And, while we're at it, how about the many gigabytes of space taken up by restore points. Do we have to keep ALL of them? The only choice with Windows "Disk Cleanup" is to remove all of them, not to remove them selectively. I recently refurbed a Dell Optiplex GX240 for a client, starting with XP SP2, then applying all the updates from the Windows Update site. I added a few other items which were right for the hardware and software like AV software and Acrobat Reader. When I was done, the mess took up 11GB of space. Then I removed all the restore points, did a MANUAL file cleanup, and a complete disk cleanup on the rest. The result? Only 6GB hard drive space occupied. And I won't even get into the number of times I had to reboot the system after a applying an update.

If this is perceived as an anti-Microsoft tirade, that is an incorrect perception. It's just the facts, ma'm... Ben Myers
