Hi,

Yesterday I turned on the P.C; and noticed that my internet connection had died, thinking the network had gone down I tried another P.C. and all was o-k, so having rebooted the dell P.C, and trying again the problem was still aparent.

I tried another ethernet cable from the dell to the modem but to no avail, I went into the network adapter diagnostics and found a red cross through the gigabit card, after spending half an hour on the phone to an indian at dell, I was still non the wiser.

I suggested that maybe the card had gone faulty, but dell wanted me to do hard drive checks!

A minor note, just a week or two earlier Microsoft announced a trial version of...

In my flustration I decided to restore the machine back to the factory settings by pressing Ctrl + F11, which made no difference, and to cut a long story short and after 4 hours of messing about with diagnostics, and moving the ethernet cable in and out I came to the conclusion that the connector on the mother board is loose.

I phoned dell and told them this, but they replyed so long as it's o-k now that's fine!

Thing is when it happens again do I phone dell? for some non usefull information, as the machine is only 4 months old (Dimension 8400)

Any suggestions please.
