Volume Control" stays minimized in task bar. HelpI had this problem and found an old thread with this breastle which I could no post to. This problem presents itself as not displaying ANY of the sliders in the Volume Controls. The thought is that something in the registry forces the Volume Control window to stay stuck as minimized. I solved this by restoring my system to a "before the problem" restore point. I too do NOT know what is the registry setting that causes this or what happened to mess with the registry setting. My speculation is that I was using a Nvidia card to support two displays and was using XP Windows video card setting to extend the desktop to a second display. And I was playing with the Line In Volume control slider. Maybe the Volume Control Windows remembers a wrong display when it is closes. In that case, it is not that Volume Control opens minimized but is going to a display no longer there. But I did try connect a second display to see if Volume Control was there, and it was not. The only program I know that caused a restore point to be set was Windows Defender update that I think was automatically updated early this morning. At least that was the restore point I went back to and which corrected the problem. In other words it was after the Windows Defender update install that the Volume Control problem began. Apple recalls batteries FWIW, I spent some time poking around the CPSC.gov site searching for recalls on notebook batteries. Below is a list... Maybe someone smarter than me will post the exact registry setting that messes with Volume Control in a way that forces it to run minimized?
