Using a Dell OEM XP Pro disk to do an upgrade from Dell OEM XP
Here's the situation: (All disks are SP2) One of our Dell desktops was seriously messed up with malware, viruses, etc., and we decided it...

hdrdtd I think you must have been lucky. My recent experiences with Dell have been a nightmare and is still ongoing. It's an Inspiron 510 which I can't charge. The adapter was thought to be at fault, a week of mailing, phoning staying in for four days while they cancelled delivery without the decency to tell me, never bothered phoning when they said they would, no answers to my e mail etc. I received the adapter to find the fault elsewhere. meanwhile I took out the three year warranty buttuming it to be the sort where an engineer visits my home. It is an "in home" policy. cleverly worded. I see no difference between at home and collect and return and no one will tell me despite asking. I have received no paperwork or e mail so can't peruse any documents regarding the warranty, 7 days to change my mind which is now up.The chat room has been a godsend but I was told I would not be covered for the jack being faulty as it is " normal usage" I AM covered for " normal wear and tear". I don't know the difference. No one will tell me. I pleaded my case and it was agreed it would be done under warranty. Pick up and return Wednesday. Looking at the status page I now see it's cancelled and to expect a phone call. I may as well have binned the laptop right at the start. Now I have to seemingly go through all this again but to be honest, I've had enough. £94 down for a warranty not worth the paper it is NOT written on and no laptop. Very disappointed with Dell
