What cheap laptop Dell 2200 or another 1195
I've gone that route, basically got one of the $1K clbutt laptops, Compaq in my case. No regrets. Wireless was essential in my case, I mostly use it when bottling the beer, for the database and playing captured digital TV since the bottling is a tad boring and I need the portability. Worth having built in wireless, the number of hotspots can only increase. Havent noticed a single one of the low end ones that doesnt have that. Yes. Doesnt really have any important advantage in that use. Yes, but I havent noticed any of the low ends with less than that. Havent noticed any with less than 40G. Havent noticed any that dont have that either, usually a combo that will play DVD too. DVD playing can be handy if you are away for long etc. I dont like the cheap Dells, they run the hard drive much too hot for my taste, right on the edge of what the manufacturer allows. No thanks. Thats what I paid for my Compaq, from privates Smith. Not sure the extra year is worth much. I think that is worth having as opposed to the AMDs, for the battery life. Even when the mains is available, its handy to not bother for a decent time. I went for a wide screen myself, largely because I play captured digital TV on it when bottling. I have replaced the VCRs with 4 channels of digital TV into the PVR I buttembled myself using the old test machine. The laptop replaced the PC in the kitchen, mainly for instant on with a machine that I dont use every single day, and that becomes the 'new' test machine now. So thats a total of 4 PCs, one of which is the laptop. That end of the market is just dropping noticeably now. Woolys has had a number of Acers for $1K type money now. I dont like them myself, there is a dearth of service manuals etc on the net for Acers. Dimension 8200 Bizarre Hardware Problem Hi Guys, I seem to be having a bizarre hardware problem with one of my Dell Dimension 8200 systems. First let me... There's plenty of those $1K notebooks around now. Yes, with the hard drive. Nope, they're just trying to compete with woolys etc. Compaq. Currenty DS only has the AMD version avail, no wireless either I'd wait for another Celeron with wireless to show up myself. Buying a Dell Computer 1196 I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 notebook four years old, an XPS Gen3 two years old, and an XPS Gen4 one year old. All bought... Not really if you want a decent screen and keyboard.
Even an opinion that your face is as bad as the back of a bus ?
