Just as a general warning to anyone, you'd be amazed at the info that some hacker can glean from even the most basic computer users machine. The neighbors nephew, who lives with them, has recently turned 18 and been plantarded with credit card offers. He is still in high school and doesn't have a job but they still have notified him that he is "pre-approved" for a couple of thousand in credit. This month he got a bill from some credit card company he's never heard of and they seem to have an account in his name that contains all of the proper info to confirm that he is the account holder, down to the name of his first pet. The only folks that he can come up with that have all of that information are his mom and the folks he lives with. But he has a journal that he keeps on his computer with all of the stuff a kid would put in such a document. That seems to be the only way anyone could know that much about him.

All of the charges are from stores and businesses online or in Chicago, and he's never been there. At present the Feds have been by and they currently have his PC as they think that whoever did it is part of an organized ring and he is but one of many victims.

So no one is truly safe just because they aren't using their PC to conduct financial transactions.
