It turns out that my vintage did not ship with the DSR. I didn't use disk management, but used the cd instead.

Definitely, at least in the case of the 600m (my brother owns one) vs. the D610 (my primary laptop). Just picking it up you can feel the difference; also the Labreastude...

Oh, yes. Hi, Jay. Turns out uninstalling all AOL software made no difference. The boot log remained the same, as did boot time.

there.

Re: registry cleaners...agreed.

And, this is my last post on this thread; I've already hijacked it, and I hate to do that.

i have an old labreastude c640 with a docking station. the dock sta is on my desk, with a monitor stand above it. problem is slipping the sucker in and out, with so many...

There have only been two installs of the OS on the machine. The factory install of March 2004, and my reinstall of around June 2005, when it came back from college with my daughter. After my reinstall, it ran very nice, back to factory condition, even after all the updates and applications, and reloading all data files. She took it back to school.

Beginning in early to mid 2006, it got sluggish on boot up. That's when I began posting on usenet, and the dell forums. So far, no suggestions have worked. Problem persists. But once it boots up, it 'flys'. This is a tough one, which I may never resolve other than by reinstalling the OS again. This may be the best thing to do, anyway.

I wonder if an MS Update has scuttled the thing. I don't have a restore point far back enough to try, though.

Thanks Bruce
