Hi,

i'm aware of the other similar topic regarding the Dell Inspiron. i'm currently having quite a bit of difficulty installing Win 2K onto my Fujitsu N series 3010 notebook (P4, 512M, etc.)

It originally came with Win XP which i quickly came to dislike severly (my main system with a slightly slower processor than the notebook runs Win 2K Pro very well and a lot quicker than the XP on the notebook). The things that BC was talking about in the other thread re: XP were true. Anyway, to make a long story less long, i need to "downgrade" Xp (ie: upgrade to Win 2K Pro) primarily because i have an app that at this time will only run reliably on Win 2K and has all kinds of problems on XP.

i tried installing 2K from the Win 2K CDROM (boot from CDROM) but i found that when the setup reaches the point where it asks to a) proceed with setup, b) Repair or c) Quit, the system seems to hang. It no longer responds to keyboard input. i have to use the power button to turn the system off and turn it back on again reboot.

Problems With All USB Devices Connected to Dimension 8300
I am having a problem with virtually every USB device I have connected to my Dell...

i contacted Fujitsu support both by phone and online. For my notebook, they do have at least one driver for the wireless LAN that is specifically for Win 2K and they have other drivers for Win XP. This implies that Win 2K will run on the notebook. Moreover, Fujitsu says i should be able to install 2K on the notebook. When i brought this problem with the installation to their attention, they said it was not their problem, that i should contact MS.

Would anyone know what the problem might be?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Gary, Some thoughts. Check device manager first. Look for (yellow) conflicts on any devices. You may also wish to go into BIOS and ALT+F default those settings to be sure something...
