non ecc ram in dell sc1425 1608
don't know where you are seeing that price, but here is a link to dell.co.uk that lists a 2gb module compatible with your system for £242.79. you can then look for the same kingston part number (KTD-WS670-2G) on froogle.google.co.uk if you want to try to find a vendor who might sell it for less. Hi, I've been rampaging around memory related threads, specs, and bios options and I cant find anything that helps me find non ecc memory for my shiny new servers. I know I should use ECC, but I don't want to pay dell the high prices (or others for that matter). (16GB of ECC Ram on Dells site during config is £10,000, yes! 10 grand). I've used non ECC in other servers where ECC was required elsewhere and I've never had a problem (in years), but yesterday I purchased Ebuyer Value Ram DDR2 1GB P4200 533 MHz and the system says theres no ram installed. (I put them in pairs). The system takes PC3200 ECC Registered 400Mhz ram, I'm wondering if I just got the wrong type (above), and that I can put in non ECC if its PC3202. I buttumed that the ram I purchased would run at the slower bus speed (PC3200). There is virtually no tech data to help me out. There is no option to turn off ECC in the bios. Suddenly the cheap server with 256MB of ram becomes useless at any price with 256MB ram. Being obsessive :-) I noticed it right... This stinks of Dell marketing trick. (I still think Dell is the best hardware for business, but as a company it stinks, I'll ditch them if any manufacturer can match the quality and price. Anthony Woo Hoo, Got my Laptop : 1610 First day's impressions: - I love it! - I am used to a 2001fp and a 2405fps, so the little wxga screen is a LOT different. No problem if I...
