For those who want a faster way to type write, there is a system called Super Write that I use. It has served me very well in professional and academic environments.
Some words have shortcuts:
b = be f = for m = am n = in, and r = our, are etc...
A crossed t is the "th" sound. A non-crossed "t" is the usual sound. A crossed "t" by itself is "the".

so, "independent" would be either ndpndnt or ndepndnt.
