Almost Impossible To Sell A Pre_loaded Linux Desktop Computer 10848
Almost Impossible To Sell A Pre_loaded Linux Desktop Computer 10849 This a very good point, correcting the term to "Windows Viruses" is spot on, "Windows Spyware" and "Windows Malware" should also be used amongst others. I am supprised that MS havn't... One of my machines currently boots linux. When my kids (teenagers) see me on it they notice that something is "different" and ask me what that is. The entire look of the desktop and window-manager is different enough to give strong visual clues that something is "different" about the machine. It's different but they are able to figure out how to use it. They are used to clicking the "Blue E" icon to start Internet Explorer so when they see the Fire Fox icon it isn't obvious what that is. But once they start Fire Fox using it as a web-browser isn't any different from using IE. Apps like Open Office and Abi Word are easier for them to buttociate since the words "Office" and "Word" give strong clues as to what the application will do. So while Linux is "different" for them it's certainly more than usable. A decent analogy is that it's like driving a friends car or a rental car. Almost Impossible To Sell A Pre_loaded Linux Desktop Computer 10850 Lionel Lionel I would agree,(on several items) 1st the op probably was a troll, and also that the people (the mbuttes) can't handle choice. And targeting linux based computers at NEW computer... It's a "little different" at the periphery... the light switch may be in a different location and the heat-AC controls are different. But the differences are easy enough to figure out and the two share much more in common than they differ.
