On Sun, 11 Dec 2005 09:47:48 -0800, Skeets I managed to convert three users and three companies over the past week. The users include: 1) One of our Help Desk dispatchers - she was angry and tired of Windows constantly being infected with malware. She's converting both her home and work systems which is fine with our IT manager as long as she can get her work done. No problem. 2) Our neighbors parents (I count them as one, although they use three computers at their house) pretty much for the same reasons. 3) The Lutheran church in our neighborhood - came about from a conversation with one of their members at Home Depot. Their not really a company (from a contractual perspective), so I consider them a "user" per se. Should take about 3 - 4 hours to configure, then several hours scattered throughout a week or so tweaking for groups and zones (I'm going with Solaris 10 OSS on this because they use an Oracle DB). 2) A "Copyright" store - think Kinkos - down in the village - because of security and cost. 3) A law firm in downtown Seattle - all about security and cutting costs. The real star of my pitch there was LaTeX, with which their office's General Manager was very familiar (I knew this going in). I usually convert at least two users every week. It's become easier and easier to do thanks to the latest advances, both in Linux and its community :-) Since when have geeks concerned themselves with the layman 6862 On Wed, 11 Jan 2006 10:10:13 -0800, the renowned John Larkin About how big is the source code... -- Back from the restroom?
