Another one bites the dust 647billwg But the event is parallel to what he is talking about. Both have the same problem in common... mainly the lack of process security. I'd say that this problem has happened a lot and not once in a blue moon. A lot depends on the ISP you are connected to and whether they are willing to scrub their own system down of all malware so that their customers aren't burdened with their problems. Kind of like typhoid mary. Depends on where they bought the PC, and also if they desired to keep the hardware of their own choosing. The best place to buy a PC is either CostCo or Amazon. After 5 months, my brother took back an ACER PC that quit working and got a full refund from CostCo. They're a pretty good store to do business with. Amazon will let you buy a Mac and if you don't like it you can return it for a full refund... probably the best way to try out a Mac. But the real problem here is once the machine is rendered useless by spybots and viruses jumping in on the PC, is getting some kind of resolution. After all, they did buy XP with the PC. They then either eat the cost of XP and dump it and try out a Linux distro, or take it back to where they bought it from and tell them to fix it correctly. Another one bites the dust 648 Very likely indeed. Microsoft Windows is known to have an MTBI of about 20 mins unless you start... Why can't you visit one of these sites with XP?? I'd say that it can't because XP can't handle it. You certainly can with a Mac running OS X tho. And nothing happens to the operating system. Strange one on that. Isn't there a script that can be looked over for this? I know cron can do it for UNIX-linux. And os x runs the same cron daemon. As an aside, these people should be taken as of old to a public place and placed in 'stocks', with a sign over his head. Another one bites the dust 649 I haven't actually seen any Windows advocates calling the user names. Perhaps your can find one. The linux side uses the term... It is a sad commentary on some peoples kids. Another one bites the dust 651 billwg He didn't want to learn something new. No, he hasn't been bitten hard enough to make the change. There are others down the street that have been bitten... -- "Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction." Blaise Pascal (1623-1662), Pense'es, #894.
