begin oeprotect.scr An interesting challenge here: I use mainly AMD, but some Intel No. Prefer Italian. It's not food, and no, I don't eat it. If he stood for PM, I wouldn't vote for him...

There are still some crappy deals from the likes of HP, Dell and Gateway that include 15 inchers. Not many, but some.

I think there are some eMachines and maybe Microtel selling them, too. So there's a market for them here. But I don't really understand why.

Dell can probably match that Indian computer. 10k rupees is $230 US. However, that HCL Linux computer that was cited in the original article for 9990...

There's still a market for CRTs here, too. While advertised prices on LCDs can look pretty enticing, most of them rely on rebates to get the show price. Once someone has had to deal with several of the crappy rebate scams around, it doesn't take much to make them look at the fine print and choose against falling into the trap.

There are some good, reliable companies that will work to get the rebates back. Most of them have turned to hiring separate agencies who make their living by ensuring rebates are almost impossible to get. I suspect a handful are allowed to get everything back so everybody can be perplexed on how difficult the majority find the whole process while others manage with no problem at all.

I bought an Envision CRT model from a chain a couple of years ago. It still looks and works like new, so I don't intend to be too hasty with replacing it.

When LCDs (and 64-bit) get to my price point, I'm buying. Not before that. I just can's say right now what that point is.

I'll know it when I see it.
