College Bound Better Leave Linux Home............... 10068 plus 1
One thing that really surprised me was the number of schools that requested WIN2000 vs WINXP as the preferred system? That one really had me confused, but when I called the 4 schools that I was interested in, they hooked me up with the various vendors (Dell-HP-IBM) who knew EXACTLY what I needed for EACH SCHOOL and the prices I got quoted were insanely low.... IOW I couldn't even build a scratch system without an OS for the price that I was getting, from MAJOR suppliers, for a system WITH and OS and all applications I need. The same thing applied to Mac systems. I am a freshman, so I am new at this, but I suggest ANYONE interested in almost free software-hardware find a student near you :) Morally correct? Nahhh... But who thinks Micorsoft and Apple are morally correct to begin with :) OT Internal Idenbreasty Change, and a Warning I hope this gets through, but in any event somebody out there's getting real cute, and there's no real reason for it. Somebody registered 'athghost7038suus.net' with dotster (it... My point is that Linux is a goner. Nobody is really interested in Linux except the Comp.Sci students and the corporations who stand to make a lot of money right off the backs of the open source programmers. Linux is still the 8-ball in the rack. Example: I ran into a comp.sci major while I was buying my books. He was jabbering about Linux to some other person and I interjected my opinions. He agreed with me that Linux is the long shot, but was quick to point out that it is superior. I agreed with him, but pointed out that Beta was superior to VHS but look who won..... He laughed and told me, play by the rules, get your degree and then do what you feel is right. I admired that and I will follow it. Ballmer: Highend Windows, Office coming Grug poked his little head through the XP firewall and said: No. I sure don't mean NT 5 (2000) and NT 5.1 (XP). Why would I make... College is no place to be the 8-ball. I want a sheepskin, not to be a martyer.
