DOS Troll FAQ
John Bailo Well, if you are going to compare software, you usually compare the latest from both companies... otherwise, the comparison is really pointless. For example, if comparing the latest OO to the first MS Word 2.0, the comparison would be skewed (for obvious reasons). If you look at comparisons done by analysts and publications, they always compare the latest available release. COLA people like to compare the latest open source software to MS software that is years old. How is that valid? 3rd parties that product hardware *are* responsible for the drivers. The point is, 3rd parties support Windows first and foremost, and then other platforms as they see fit to do so. 3rd party support *is* better on Windows than on any other platform. You mean Anandtech's technical review on Doom running 25% slower under Linux than on Windows? Or PC World's review of OO vs. Office where OO was vastly slower opening large files? Or the FireFox site that runs on open source software that was brought down twice for almost a month? COLA nuts are famous for making up claims regarding Linux vs. Windows. Boston State House meeting on Open Document I suppose it is, for someone with no brain. Oh, of course. Beceause you know EVERYTHING about the... Why do you think the vast majority still run Windows XP? Because they know the truth after having used XP. Sure XP isn't perfect. Nobody said it was. Sometimes it's downright annoying. But it sure beats the hell out of Linux.
