Day 4 with kubuntuSecret of DFS' Career Roy Schestowitz ROFL As you would take anybody's opinion on Linux here seriously that says anything at all negative about Linux? LOL Windows users have a definite interest in seeing Linux become compebreastive on... I've been using ubuintu (actually the KDE version, kubuntu) for about 4 days now. I like it, I really like it. I wrote in a previous post that Linux is pretty much a fixer upper and that most things are supported with a little work. Well, I stand by that in theory, but kubuntu is making that seem less accurate. I got an HP All-in-One 1610 for basically free when I bought my son an iBook. I plugged it in, went to add the printer, and everything just worked. It was very cool. Funny thing happened, just for fun, I plugged an SD card from my digital camera into the printer to see if I could print or whatever. A USB removable disk appeared on my desktop. Not a miracle, obviously, but just neat that everything is just working as it should. I don't need my memory card reader by my desktop anymore. Granted this is by design of the HP printer, but it is just one aspect of things just working. So, I've always said that Linux is ready for the desktop, especially when compared to Windows. While Linux may have been a bit problematic during setup, it is easy to use once it was. These days, its just easy,
