As you can see, deleting the user, removed them from all groups to which they belonged, leaving no trailing bits for Erik's scenario to work with. Note that I also used the GNOME user-groups tool, and it did the same, adding a user, with access via groups, to resources, then deleting said user, resulted in the user being deleted from all groups.
