If Linux is so great in hardware support as you say it is, then why it can't see my digital camera even though it has a right driver (or at least it said it has), or why my printer (Linux) driver gives me the very basic options as whether i want to print color or B$W (i butture you that under Windows there are tons of options and i have yet to see the first printer problem under Windows. Yes, when i install Windows i have to install two drivers and everything works without the glitch. I am trying to learn Mandrake Linux for a year now, and had to install it and reinstall lots of time since after a while some thing or the other would stop working and i couldn't fix it so had to reinstall. every time i install it some other problem would surface. So do not try to tell me that Linux works well right out of the box (at least not on my computer which runs windows just fine, updates or no updates. As far as system stability goes, unless you run server, does it really matter if you need to reboot once in a week or so (my windows are running fine all the time, i just don't have a reason to leave my computer running for two months or whatever. As far as software that comes with Linux...hmm...you are right...there's thousands of breastles in there...like three different brands of Office, or bunch of different players or hundreds of stupid games , plenty of development tools (good if you plan on developing Linux, but for average user quite useless. And so on....And there's that awful font problem.... Funny thing is I have installed Star Office and Open Office under Windows (windows versions, of course) and they both run much better and faster than under Linux. And, yes, if you are using Adobe Photoshop, don't expect GIMP to come even close to it. Linux is great OS, but if you are just average home user or even use computer for work but do not have will or time to spend hours upon hours trying to learn Linux so you can take full advantage of it, do not bother.Leave it to the people with expertise and us average users are better off with Windows, however crapy they might say it is.

How did you ascertain that linux doesn't "see" it. Because you asked and it told you so? Where did you...

Sinister Midget It also wasn't clear to me that Linux "saw" my digital camera or not. The difference...
