Does anything in Linux work *well* 1571Sinister Midget It also wasn't clear to me that Linux "saw" my digital camera or not. The difference between Windows and Linux is that when you plug in your camera and turn it on XP will throw up a wizard for you. In Linux all you have to do is start up either gphoto (Gnome) or Phototool (KDE) and tell it to acquire the images. Very little functional difference.
I don't think that's what he meant. I don't have "problems" either way, but like the OP, I have less functionality under Linux than other Windows. Quality is the same, tho. FWIW, Epson StylusColor 880.
This depends *entirely* on your particular mix of hardware. I have to grub around for two drivers either way, but not the same two. Over several years of using Windows, I never really had any of those kinds of problems. Another YMMV situation.
No doubt. Does anything in Linux work *well* 1572 Mark Kent I'll give you that. , reliability, uptime, While I can't say that the Linux kernel itself is at fault, I've had far more problems with Gnome and KDE... It very well could for him and his hardware. Obviously you had different experiences.
