Hey Jim... I'm home early, bored and it's too hot outside to do anything so I'll jump into this thread. I don't know of any long-term monopolies that specifically fit the parameters you describe. But there are two that come close. First is Sociedad Quimica. You must be thinking... Huh? It's a company in Chile that "almost" has a monopoly on lithium. (Lithium as in the mineral... not the drug.) The same lithium that's used in all those high-tech batteries for cell phones, PDA's, laptop computers, digital cameras, etc. This chart should give you an idea of what they're all about. If you're a seller then you will most likely go to the site that has the most customers for your item, which is eBay. If you're a buyer then you'll naturally go to where there are the most items and sellers... which is also eBay. It's good to be eBay.
