Firefox Founders: "We want to make money..." 10168 I don't know. You don't know and the SEC doesn't know. So it's clearly not correct for someone to claim they are "75% or more... Fine, but that doesn't answer the question asked: "What were the margins on the products?" In answer to your question ("...profit margins. Have they increased? You decide"). Overall, the company has had an interesting profit margin: 40 + + ,' ,' 30 +-----+ '+ ,+, ,+ ,--' ', ,' +' '+' '+' 20 --------------------------------------------------------------- 96 97 98 99 00 01 02 03 04 now looking at that graph, I'd have to say, not really, no, not over the last 8 years they've been fairly static - bouncing around 30%. Interesting, however, is the bulge in 99-00. I wonder if the Y2K scare had anything to do with that? People scared into thinking that their computers were going to crash and be useless on midnight at the beginning of the last year of the 2nd millennium AD (2000AD) and so and went out and bought new "y2k" compatable systems (unnecessarily?) and thus boosted Windows sales for 99? And 00 was just a continuing of an 'upgrade' of non-vital pcs that missed the Y2k scare, but now meant an extra version of Windows to have to support? (Thus overall average MS profit margins for that period) (btw, my 486DX2 66 from about '95 is still running quite happily - with *nix.) Anyone care to guess over the 04 dip?
