Firefox Founders: "We want to make money..." 10172Larry Qualig poked his little head through the XP firewall and said: Firefox Founders: "We want to make money..." 10173 begin oeprotect.scr I've held the view that these folks are paid to do this for some time, several years, in fact. Again... Dude, the statement did not originate from me. Here's just a few: I'll tell you why. It's because while Microsoft wants to stunt Linux's growth, it doesn't want to cut its fat profit margins. And it's not as if the company is giving the software away. Windows XP, which Microsoft sells for $180, probably costs $5 or less per unit to manufacture. Even with all the overhead included, Microsoft has one of the highest profit margins in the world, yet with all these profits it chooses to add features to its software in an effort to sell more, rather than fixing the problems that already exist in each and every package it sells. ...CNN The company's Office launch is a strategy change for its second most-profitable business division. Business software accounted for $9.2 billion in sales in its 2003 fiscal year, with operating profits of $7 billion -- a 76 percent profit margin. It is second only to Microsoft's core Windows operating system business in revenue and profits. Now I'm beginning to suspect you're not a Microsoft self-plant here. Such a person would be better prepared, and find an argument that will actually succeed. -- Linux has stones, man!
