Firefox Founders: "We want to make money..." 10174On Sun, 07 Aug 2005 08:14:53 +0100, Mark Kent Myself, I don't believe they're paid. I only plonk the really tedious and offensive, like tab, Heenan, K-Kiddy and followers, and 7, but I think they're all (the anti-Linux crowd) mainly motivated by a desire to yank our chains and not much else. It doesn't seem inconceivable to me that they can and do believe that they're right and we're wrong Firefox Founders: "We want to make money..." 10177 On Sun, 07 Aug 2005 23:45:48 +0100, Mark Kent Oh yes, now you mention it, I have a vague recollection of reading... But who *are* the audience out there? I'd agree with this in principle, except that it's nearly impossible in practise. Nothing can really be discussed in isolation - people are bound to make comparisons, in fact, it's hard to avoid doing so. And not even the die-hard Linuxers here always agree with eachother. If *no one* ever challenges our views and beliefs, how are we to test whether they are correct? Firefox Founders: "We want to make money..." 10175 begin oeprotect.scr It's possible, and would be tricky to prove. The only real evidence is that Microsoft have a documented past history of this kind of astroturfing. I expect it'll come...
But we're by and large going to be advocating to Windows users, so Windows is going to have to come into it somewhere - even if only as a whipping boy :-) I *would* like to see less tedious trolling, though even a troll can provide a launch-pad for advocacy, IMO. I just wish they'd use a little more imagination Never could get into cricket, I'm afraid. I'm with Morse: "incomprehensible rules, nothing happening for hours at a time... not my cup of tea." (Or words to that effect, I haven't watched 'Deceived By Flight' for a while). -- Kier
