Larry Qualig That's why I quoted the original great..parent which I see you've managed to cut from your reply. It's the point...

Oh yes, now you mention it, I have a vague recollection of reading something on this, probably when I read up on the Barkto thing. And wasn't there some discussion of this in the group a while back? IIRC, Erik F was involved in the thread.

I'll have a look at the link.

And just what will they see? If they're reading stuff from COLA, half of it will probably be incomprehensible argy-bargy about flatfish :-) It may just as likely that they notice begin oeprotect.scr at the beginning of a post as they pay attention to the arguments put forward by pro-MS posters here. Or they might see all our advocacy in repy to trolls. Or a lot of faul-mouthed rubbish from K-Man and his cronies.

If they can make any sense of it all, I'd be rather surprised.

I'm not suggesting so-called astroturfing never takes place, but my personal feeling is it's not as widespread as popular belief has it. By it's very nture, it's difficult to prove or pin down, so I doubt we'll ever really know how much of it is or is not going on.

Which is why I often answer trolls.

Would you say you are typical of Linux 'converts'? I wonder if there is any 'typical' switcher to Linux? Possibly what's typical is an atbreastude of mind rather than any particular background in computers. Perhaps we're just more open to new ideas, a bit more independant.

I hope you continue to make good progress. Education is one area where I feel Free software should play a major role

The thing to bear in mind is, IMO, that just being pro-Windows isn't actually a crime. :-) and that people can be pro-windows and pro-MS without needing to be paid. Types like billwg just think they're superior and like to 'prove' it.

begin oeprotect.scr It's the dead giveaway, I think. These posts are remarkably formulaic, which should make them easy to spot and ignore. It...

I still don't think that it's as simple as you believe it is. Take the upcoming...
