Guess you forgot, Mr. Bill - Linux isn't a company. It's an operating system that is expanding its user base exponentially around the world. Proprietary operating systems made by Microsoft and Apple can't compete with Linux because their respective business models force them to charge a price for their products. OTOH, Linux is manufactured and supported by a community - global in size - of people who prefer choice, freedom, and open standards over the narrow-minded, woefully outdated, monolithic offerings from Redmond and Cupertino (although Apple is more a toy company than a computer company these days). There is no "Linux business model" because Linux is freely available. The only time a business model applies to Linux-OSS is when a company boxes it and sells it, such as Red Hat or Novell-SUSE - or when it is embedded in products - such as the Cymphonix bandwidth shaper, Barraccuda SPAM firewalls, Linksys Wireless routers, cell phones such as the Motorola A732 or A768... the list continues to grow: For example, see*: *Note the Market Snapshot - of course you'll cry foul or deny it exists or some Funkenbush-esque nonsense. I know it's almost impossible for a Wintroll to grasp this concept. Wintrolls love to harp about Windows revenues and profit, but the fact is - these aspects simply do not apply to F-OSS Linux - which is why Linux will persevere long after people get sick and tired of paying Microsoft for its horrible software and burdensome, oppressive licensing. You and your Wintroll comrades must realize that this is true... otherwise you wouldn't be here. -- Back from the restroom? Better scan your Windows system.
