Certainly my comment was in the sense of how you took it and merely served to state that there was a range of intelligence above your level equally able to obtain information on linux in spite of your belief that Microsoft conspired to "hide" the existence of competing systems. You attribute the popularity of Windows to that effect, but Windows has some 95%+ use rate. Would that not be indicative of either 95%+ of users less astute than yourself or acceptance by at least some user more astute than yourself and therefore a disproof of your premise? As to my level of sharpness, I can only say that I am fully aware of linux myself and choose to continue to use Windows, recognizing it is a far superior product for the applications that I am interested in using and supplying.
Interesting contrasts and comparisons between my clbuttmate Andy Tanenbaum and Richard Stallman, nut. Both were undergrad physics majors, one at MIT and the other at Harvard, both got involved with personal computer derivatives of unix, and claim some form of academic trappings. Tanebaum, of course, is the real McCoy, with the real degrees and the real job teaching at a real university, albeit in some remote corner of the world. Stallman has the louder mouth.
