Do you mean Oracle and DB2's role-based auth system is a complete piece of poo?

dunno, it's related to data warehousing or some OLAP thing I guess. Never used it myself.

Aquila Deus "Role based" security has always seemed problematic to me. Its more trouble than its worth, IMHO...

Of course it works, but not good. PostgreSQL doesn't support sp in .NET, nor can it notice .NET apps when some table-row is changed.

Agreed :)

You can install as many as sql server instance as you like.

Heh, I thought PostgreSQL is rather new compared to the three. Does v8 support table parbreastioning and parallel query? And I also found someone's comment on Ingres:

"Notable better scaling, in terms of database size, size of database servers, # of simultanious users, and # of simeltanious queries. Notably better backup and restore. Notably better storage management. Better online user-query management facilities (how do you get a list of current queries and users in postgres ? never did figure that out) Notably more flexible, and better documented tuning. Better tools for identifying things like locking conflicts or poorly constructed queries. Enterprise features like auditing that simply aren't available for postgres."

Personally I have no reason to use PostgreSQL until it supports sp in Java or .NET.
