GO BACK TO LINUX

Hi all!

I'm seriously considering to switch back to linux for my company's project development, after wasting two full working days on stupud windos problems. First is the Active Directory wiped all previous settings and made windos freeze, then, after I spent one day to fix it, the god-damned Novell eDirectory client removed the login dialog box!!

I have installed Arch Linux 0.7 and configured everything including kernel, X, and framebuffer. However, in order to switch to linux completely, I need:

1.Sybase ASE Server - I'm downloading the free version now, does anyone here have experience on it? Anything that I should take care of?

If you install Apple's port of X, though, it by default starts an xterm when you...

2.Mono & ASP.NET - I guess this would be fine. But where are the ODBC drivers? I have never used ODBC on linux before. Does it have native support for M$'s SQL Server?

3.VMWare: I need it to run M$ SQL Server and test SmartPKI (some SmartCard auth system). Can it let windows access USB devices that even my linux can't recognize? (the smart card we has no linux driver)

4.Oracle: One of our company's projects will sonn need it... Does anyone know how to *copy* it without going through the terrible setup that takes years to complete?

5.Where is the Magic sysrq key in kernel 2.6?? Why can't I find it menuconfig??

I hooked up a two-button trackball to 3 of them. They all work fine, and use both buttons. The commandline is hidden as deep as they thought they could get away with burying it...

6.LDAP - Is Sun One Directory Server good??
