A plonker (Shmuel (Seymour J.) Metz

Wrong. As a matter of fact, I don't think I'm important enough for him to write about me at all. Indeed, since Daeron-Menthol is slow, stupid, and misleading in his posts, I would much rather he never ever mentioned me again.

Unfortunately for all of us, Daeron-Menthol has appointed himself my unofficial stalker, which is why he spams COLA with rubbish about me rather than getting himself either a brain or a life.

You're welcome to try getting him to stop. Could you talk to his mother or something? Don't schoolkids have any projects to do nowadays?

Your analogy is false, and even if it were not, you are still wrong.

First, one of the pillars of Dell's business is that it builds to order, so it *does* offer "a plethora of models with minor variations" -- most of them in editions of 1. The clever bit is that all the variations come off the same production line.

Second, Dell restricts the options to reduce costs even where Intel and Microsoft would rather Dell offered a wider range of models, such as Tablet PCs for example. Try comparing the couple of dozen notebook PCs sold by a Sony or Toshiba with the handful Dell offers.

There's more, but I think that's enough for now....

Yes, it's best to keep your mind closed. Your brain might not survive the risk of learning something....
