Well no THAT is BS. Now I know what you mean. There are serevral "easier" distros. I'm not saying Xandors is bad altogeter, for one example but let's see.

Ubuntu didn't even start and I'm am certianly not the only one. I read how other say they are stuck with ubuntu CD's and they do want to give them away. I did "fix" ubuntu by turning off sound in the BIOS but I still do not rate it better than mepis.

Knoppix was my choice before MEPIS. SimplyMEPIS is super Knoppix and you should know it. Knoppix is no where near as good on hard drive install. I have both installed BTW. ...and I've had every version of knoppis that has come out. It's great but not as good as Mepis.

Mandrake is a favorite of many but I just don't see the advantage. It's not debian based. It's not native apt, the best package manager IMHO and for all it's additional configuration wizards, I think mepis trumps it today.

If I had Lycoris I'd just install SimplyMEPIS in it's place. Why put up with tier features?

Xandros gets an A for promoting ease of use. I just don't want to sign any more darn "license agreements". Their free version is fuctionally limited and why should I pay for what I get with MEPIS?

Hey, to each his own. The choice we have between open software distributions is great. You get just what you need-want.

It is my experienced opinion that new comers would be best served with the no obligation, two minutes to run on your harware, Ten to install (Hard drive) and the whole process be easy enough for pre-schoolers. The programs are robust. The BS need not be.

Even us more experienced computer jockeys value TIME SAVED. The demo and install should be simple and without future constriants. That is solely the realm of SimplyMEPIS.
