Oh they were desperate measures all right, else why would Microsoft risk the wrath of the DoJ and others.

They end off BeOS and with it one potential compebreastor, Be.

They tried to kill off Linux the same way, but the Linux business model has Gates & Co stumped. They're only weapon now is FUD and innuendo.

It's not working.

People bought it because it was the only game in town, thanks again to Microsoft's business tactics. If you believe otherwise then I suggest you have lead a very sheltered existence and need to get out more.

If Windows were marketed in open compebreastion and people bought it because it was superior to the compebreastion I wouldn't complain, but few users have ever seen a competing product. Why? What are Microsoft so scaerd of?

It couldn't just possibly be that the compebreastion is actually better, now could it?

Proof, please.

DR-DOS was a very popular and superior alternative to MS-DOS. Vobis installed it on all their machines until Gates paid them a visit. It was made clear...

"According to an independent report, the first two weeks of XP sales were among the most lackluster in Windows history."

"Huge seller"? Right...

Everybody will be force fed Vista whether they like it or not. That's the only way sales will grow.Nothing to do with the merits or otherwise of Vista, which is looking more and more like XP SP3.

Goody. When will it go Gold? Next year? 2007? 8? 9? Whenever it actually emerges into the marketplace Linux and OS X will have moved on.

The nimble-footed Microsoft that ran rings round IBM in the 1980's are now themselves the lumbering giant barely able to keep pace with the compebreastion, let alone reclaim the lead.

C++

Uh huh.

I thought that was a games machine Microsoft sold at a loss for Linux users to turn into servers.

Don't know this one, but "Security" and "Microsoft" are mutually exclusive.

Uh huh.

A DRM lock-in format.

That virus writers exploit endlessly.

The only thing they're enbreastled to be concerned about is that they're paid the correct amount for the number of licences shipped. Period.

What additional extras the OEM adds to their products is none of Microsoft's business.

And for a convicted monopoly like Microsoft to even consider otherwise is very very wrong.
