Kier Then he shouldn't be worrying about malware - otherwise he is incompetent. Almost no one. Certainly it doesn't come close to the level of *worry* that rapskat was whining about...

And as it isn't it's disabled again...wow what intelligence...

Having difficulty understanding English?

On Tue, 11 Apr 2006 23:48:07 -0400, DFS No. If you are trying to claim...

Nope.

If an application doesn't uninstall properly, and the OS can't shutdown because of that, then it *IS* an OS problem. And, no I have no idea what app is causing the problem - it could even be the OS itself as I have a greater chance of shutdown failing if I have cross shared folders^Wdirectories with another Windwos computer on my lan.

What's the nic vendor and model got to do with it. I installed *exactly* the same nic into a Linux box at the same time (when I set up my lan1) and that machine had no problems - rebooted machine, set ip addr and it worked no problem.

1 At the same time I also installed a different NIC into an old machine on which I run freebsd (an ISA one - the machine isthatold) and had no problems with that machine (other than fogetting to recompile to kernel prior to shutdown to include eth support which I had previously excluded as I wasn't using it).

It is often claimed that Linux support is behind that of Windwos, ergo if linux can handle it, Windwos must be able to handle it.

Most of the software I've installed has required reboots, some of them multiple reboots2 leading to an average reboot per install of slightly more than 1.

2 Hardware drivers being the prime example, but not the only one.

And how do I find out which DLLs are conflicting? (I have Win 3.1 on the same machine as freebsd that I can, if necessary use by duel booting into DOS - Win 95 wouldn't be able to run on it at a reasonable speed.) -- Outgoing mail certified virus free... It has gone nowhere near a Windwos machine before my ISP. I am the "ILOVEGNU" signature virus. Just copy me to your signature.
