Linux, The Great Time Waster!! 17375Look I had similar bad experiences with suse 9.2. I have a dual boot with suse, and there are many things I just cant do other than listening to mp3 browsing and email and chat. My ati dual head did not work correctly even though I did install the ati driver, I just get a cloned desktop, not an extended one. If I wanted to make it work I would have to edit configuration files... what non geek likes to do that? and even If I did, the way linux uses multiple screens is bad. You can have xinerama but when you maximize a window it maximizes on all the screen, sometimes video does not work on both screens. Or if you use the seperate desktop configuration you cant drag a window from one screen to another. Windows XP just works, and you can be far more productive. He is right. I dont mind paying for software when it makes my life such easier. Linux is Built On Excuses. Does the Linux Community Take Responsibility for ANYTHING Are you speaking of folks in COLA or Linux supporters in general. I am sure there... You have to face it, but I am not giving up on linux I have many distros on vmware and I am keep trying hoping to find a linux that has an ease of use. In the future that probably will happen... but for not linux for the desktop is a bad choice if you want to do lots of things. Linspire is trying to get there... but its not free.... SO linux is more of a hobby for me... Anyway you can use opensource and free software on XP too. After a few days using suse... I booted back to XP and I felt like a man emerging from a desert to a paradise. -- Kenny
