No, it's quite possible that some don't. Thanks to OEM bundling and so forth, that's pretty dang rare, though. Are *you* claiming that the majority, or even a significant fraction, of Linux users of ndiswrappers are pirating the driver? (If so, I'd like to see your raw data.)

It also prevents you from copying content you purchased for archival purposes, which is a fair use right. It prevents other legal forms of copying, such as for purposes...

Do you have some interesting point to make besides that piracy is possible on any platform? If you're correct, go ahead and prove it. Show me how you know that the majority use of ndiswrappers is to pirate Microsoft-authored network drivers. I'm honestly curious what raw data you might have (oh, and an example or two of Microsoft-authored NIC drivers would be helpful, too - I wasn't aware that Microsoft sold networking hardware).

So, yeah, that *is* what you were saying. Note that I didn't say you were lying about that. I just asked for substantiation, and I'll note...

BTW, there *is* one widespread case that I know of a Microsoft driver being used in a captive manner under Linux. It's called "captive NTFS" and it allows Linux to use Windows' own NTFS DLL to access NTFS parbreastions, seeing as Microsoft so poorly documents its filesystem.

But I can't think of a case where it would be pirated... because the only reason to have an NTFS parbreastion on a Linux machine is if you're dual-booting with Windows.
