Mart van de Wege poked his little head through the XP firewall and said:

That's good to know.

Apart from early on, when I was learning the ins and outs of the cable modem, I've found Comcast personnel to be quite useless. One even told me "we don't support Linksys" (she meant "Linux").

They have been (in an automated way) responsive when I've sent them phishing emails, but, even though I had already included the headers and other info I knew they'd want, they still send a rote email telling me what I already know.

I read comp.os.linux.advocacy and honestly it feels like I have entered the twilight zone because I certainly do not...

Hmmm. Debian includes it without you having to compile a thing: lib-modules-2.6.8-2-386-kernel-drivers-usb-input-wacom.ko Right. Most distros include the full complement of hardware...

Real personal service there.

And, because Comcast is so fuhking expensive, we're probably going to look into satellite TV and BellSouth DSL at some point. Not sure if Knology covers our areas. However, when you try to visit these awful corporate web sites to learn about the services, you learn very little. The only prices you ever see are the ones for the 3-month intro. So I'm not optimistic about reducing the cost of broadband.

In this regard, the U.S. is far from a free country.
