What sane person would install Linux when their newly purchased pre-loaded system comes with a ton of great software?

Why void my warrantee, or at best pee off the tech support people should I have a hardware problem and no longer have the preloaded diagnostic software that they use to process tech support requests.

Tech: Hi I'm Mr. Singh at D#$L tech support and how can I help you today?

User: I am getting lockups on my system.

Tech: Can you run the "System Fitness Test" that is located in C:-test?

User: Well I have installed Linux on this system.

Tech: ugggggggghhhh...Let me put you on hold so I can talk to my supervisor.

User: Ok (thinking to herself, this doesn't sound good).

Tech: Hello. You are going to have to use the kicker diskette and CD that came with your system to reload Windows so we can trouble shoot this matter further.

User: But what about all my data, configuration and such with Linux?

Tech: We don't support Linux. That is your problem.
