Clearly you don't have much experience in the BUSINESS of audio recording and production. If there are 40 rock studios in town and you're the only one who has any reputation at all for recording clbuttical music, someone who needs a clbuttical recording may very well go to you first based on your greater experience. And if you use some non-conventional tools, he probably won't mind. But if he wanted to make a rock recording, he's look for either the lowest price (some people are like that) or the best equipment. He may not choose either, but those will be the first cuts.

It's usually the other way around. You get the tools that get you the jobs, you learn how to use them, and then the customer can choose the engineer based on his ability to use the tools that the customer wants to see.
