MS Office on Linux 14789
On Sun, 10 Apr 2005 21:59:10 +0100, Mark Kent MS Office on Linux 14790 Kier Well, it's not any kind of conspiracy at all, Kier, and not any kind of paid promotion either. We are right, of course, and you are... That's certainly possible. Again, I'd agree that it's a possibility. Me too. I could be wrong about the whole astroturfing thing. I think it's entirely possible that there are posters here who aren't posting purely out of personal motives, it's just that I find it hard to Credit Debt that MS would waste money on such things. Fact is, there are all kinds of people posting to Usenet groups. Some are just average types, looking for some conversation with like-minded souls on the interests they have, be it an Os or an SF TV series or whatever. But inevitably there will be some who simply want to be arseholes, or who just come across that way. I don't know why it is that people behave so crappily, on-line or in real life, but they do. It's like vandalism or graffiti or mindless thuggery. And there is the possibility that DFS, billwg and all, actually are sincere. We'd like to think we're right, but who's to say we actually are? Protestants and Catholics both think *they* are right. Who is to say which system of belief is the right one? I'm not saying DFS et al are right, but why should it be so unlikely that they *think* they are, and are willing to say so here? Why must it be a conspiracy? -- Kier
