Hmmm... if I understand you correctly the reason the low end does not have both is not to cripple it, being that both...

Yes, you are correct. However, "normal people" (whatever that means) would also probably wonder wtf "kaffeine" is and why is it in the multimedia section. One quick google search later and, "Hey, whaddaya know, it's a media player!"

"Normal" people would also not go around posting inaccurate summations on a product armed with a bunch of poorly researched "half-facts" either, I presume.

That would be like me saying OS X has no media applications because, being a "normal" person, I had no clue what iLife was. It certainly isn't evident by the name what it is, nor are many applications on various platforms. Would you know merely by the name what "Outlook Express" was for? How about "Excel"?

I know at this point you are probably going to say, "yes, well there should be some description of what type of application Kaffeine is like there are for the other two." I would probably agree with you, however the fact remains that the OP jumped to a conclusion without so much as saying, "hmmm, I wonder what kaffeine is."

Here's a clue...if it's in the "Multimedia" section, it's not a coffeemaker.
