Hmmm... if I understand you correctly the reason the low end does not have both is not to cripple it, being that both media players do much the same thing, but to make it easier to use - which makes sense for the population I am looking at Linux for.

If so it should be labeled better - but that is a complaint against the site, *not* the OS. And good to know.

I wonder if it would be easy enough for my students clients? For the most part they can handle the way many plug in installs work for web browsers... you try to load a page and it tells you that it does not have the plug in - and tells you to "click here". You do that - it asks if you want to install the plug in. If you say yes, within seconds (on a fast connection) you have the plug in. Even then, with the fear of viruses and other malware, many will not do that.

Once they understand that malware is essentially nonexistent on Linux, that may be less of an issue. -- Feel free to ask for the recipe.
