Mandrake disappointment 1743Mandrake disappointment 1745 I would bet he has pretty good tech support. :) Some people in that age range seem to catch on fairly... Mandrake disappointment 1744 How long have you been working with computers? You sound like you would be a joy to have in one of my clbuttes, though you likely are well past... Talking about "older", "average" users, and what you seem to think they are wanting from a computer system, I think you underestimate your students, mbuttively. I consider myself an average user, aged 61, and Linux is my main operating system. I prefer it. It is easy to use. Switching from KDE to Gnome is not a problem, nor would it be for your average users, if you gave them more credit for brains and innate curiousity than you do. Consistentcy? You're really stuck on that one. I like change. It doesn't have to be totally consistent. Those older folks with what you think are slowing, aging brains, like a little challenge too, and consistentcy is not high on their priority list. As a teacher, you should know that to get more out of learners, expect great things from them and they will come through, no matter what their age is. Computers are major FUN! That from an old fart. Computers are a major Challenge! I surf, do e-mail, run printers, scanners, digital cameras, build custom computers from scratch, burn CDs, build web-sites and plan on doing more. And, I consider myself an "average", "older" user. Get with the program kid!
