Mandrake disappointment 1777On Mon, 14 Mar 2005 14:18:15 +0000, Mark Kent Mandrake disappointment 1778 On Tue, 15 Mar 2005 07:09:26 +0000, Mark Kent It's not an excuse. And lots of... So? Does everyone have to be utterly consitent? his statement may seem foolish to you, perhaps it *is* foolish, that doesn't necessarily mean it's not genuine. Provocative to whom? Then you haven't been paying attention. The thing he seems most set on having is a consistency across apps and dialogs, which he say OSX has and which Xp partly has. He's said more than once that a certain proportion of his students finds differences in, for instance, Save and Print dialogs to be confusing and off-putting. The term novice-type alone As far as I can see, his users come in a range of types, but are mostly basically ordinary types just interested in getting their PCs to do normal things, rather than delving into the 'innards' of the OS. No anti-Snit posting? IIRC, there were several, from Steve mackay, Elizabot, and Steve Carroll, all of whom spend most of their time in CSMA attacking Snit. They may or may not have reason to do so, but from my general observation their behaviour is no better, and indeed may be worse, than his. Clearly, his manner could do with a little toning down. But if we called everyone a troll who has an annoying manner, there'd hardly be many left in the group. Not excluding myself, at times. Mandrake disappointment 1779 begin virus.scr Kier I don't think that you have understood why the begin bug is still used. It has a lot to do with the posters who still use OE. I certainly don't intend... I work in a factory. Quite a few of my workmates can be annoying gits some of the time, you just have to get along with them. He comes from CSMA. He's talking about Linux and MacOS. I don't find it very surprising myself. He was drawn into discussion of Linux through a cross-post started by someone else. my conversations with him have been entirely reasonable, IMO. When i consider he's ceased being reasonable, I'll stop talking to him. Simple as that. I've also done it, sometimes inadvertantly. He has apologised several times, and had it thrown in his face. May be he did so insincerely, maybe not. I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt for as long as possible. hardly the strangest I ever came across in Real Life. Some of my brother's friends went or still go by the names 'Poke', 'Spine', 'Fluff', 'Sleazy' and 'Mole', to name a few. -- Kier
