I am becoming very tired of this 'torture can save lives' bullpoo as if that is some sort of...

You are absolutely right. However, war is not democracy, whether it's good or bad. Abuse is a...

The article is from December 2004. A few other things: - who's going to stop volcanoes from polluting? All the industry in the world is nothing compared to volcanoes. Krakatau was a natural disaster that has no equal. - UK's soil is releasing huge quanbreasties of CO2 by itself. - The Arctic? Why didn't anyone say anything about the series of earthquakes and erruptions under the north pole? Talking about melting ice? Maybe we should check the furnaces from the deep. - Increased temperatures? Where? All the charts I've seen show no increase in temperature except for cities given the increase in population. The minimum and maximum values for temperatures around the world have been reached at the beginning of the century, we haven't touched them yet. - it would also be a good idea to check the impact on the environment of huge methane releases in the Bermuda triangle... it's so much that it changes the density of the ocean in the area (whenever it gets released), and it has been buttociated with ships dissapearances and sudden explosion of airplanes flying over the area. - did anyone even bother to compare the impact of solar flares on the global climate (I think they have an 11 year periodicity with spikes in strange weather events on Earth) - did any "green" tell you what is going to happen if they alter wind energy by using windmills? Did they also tell you what would happen if they use huge fields for solar panels? I bet they haven't. That's because they know about that as much as they know about global warming: nothing. Did they give you any answers to the question: what will we do with nuclear waste? When they have good answers for those questions I'll start paying more attention to what they have to say. Or, maybe they'll put their whole energy into building fusion plants instead of scarying people just to make money.

Now, let's say there's global warming, even if not man made: - CO2 released in atmosphere can stimulates plants growth - in the last few years Sahara decreased its size - last year there were flowers in rest Valley due to rain (not sure when that happened the last time) - rain and higher temperatures can lead to more farm land for third world countries in Africa and other places, I'm sure there are people who don't want that to happen

I guess these are a few things no global warming specialist will bother to tell you, because he just might lose his-her funds. It's a good thing that there are organizations like Green Peace that somehow manage to destroy some 100m of coral and get away with just saying sorry and paying $5,000. I think US should stop bothering with stopping global warming which is impossible and spend more money in finding alternative technologies. Rejecting the Kyoto protocol was a smart move.

By the way, I don't know how it works, but is Japan going to borrow some pollution credits due to the fact that their volcanoes will use all they have in about a month? (The same goes for all the countries close to or in the ring of fire)

I know how global warming research is done. I know how numbers are hand matched in simulations. Manipulating numbers to get to global warming is not research.

I think that talking about Linux is much more interesting. Global warming should be left to other threads.

Mark Kent First of all, there was always torture around. The cold war had so much torture that you would scream if you knew. In the Eastern Europe countries there was so much torture (political...
